General Information

I am young in spirit and the kid from the 70's is still inside but suddenly I found myself in my 50's and realized that I have spent far too many of those years alone. I try to be open-minded about all things. I believe that you are only truly "old" when you cease to learn. I am quite a voracious reader. I enjoy the challenge of solving problems and what is learned in the process. I also know when to set all of that aside and just relax. I have a rather dry sense of humor (due to largely Scottish ancestry, I think) and can find the silly ironies and humour in most situations. I'm not a chef, but give me the ingredients and a recipe... I can cook... (prefer Italian, Spanish, Lousiana/Cajun/Creole, Tex-Mex... and Scottish) but I can also chill out appreciate someone else's efforts! I like animals and have kept just about everything imaginable as a pet over the years. I have lived all of my life in Canada but have done quite a bit of traveling in the U.S.

Appearance

I am tall and for most of my years I was on the slim/downright skinny side. Sands of time have shifted a bit but I am far from overweight. I tend to dress casual. Jeans, hiking boots and a t-shirt suit me fine but I "clean up nicely" when the occasion calls for it. Just a matter of comfort. Back in the 70's I had hair that went to my waist (at 6'4" that's a lot of hair). I keep it a great deal shorter now. I have a short, well trimmed (I think) moustache and beard. The hair and the beard are good old "salt and pepper" but since I started turning grey when I was 13 (I kid you not!) it has never bothered me. Still have a full head of hair. I do wear glasses but they were a 1990's addition. As one of Scottish ancestry, I often dress up in the full regalia (kilt, sporran...etc) for various functions and I am told that my best feature is my legs (would have preferred it was my face actually)!
